Linden Lights 2011

It’s our 20th year and houses are starting to shine bright!  The snow maybe a little slow but not our shimmering lights!

The co-coordinator for this year’s Linden Lights competition is Jillian Ainge from Scotiabank, Linden Ridge branch.  She will be inviting three judges that are not Linden Woods residents to tour our area.  Judges will be looking out for the best themed street and the best decorated individual homes during the week of December 11th to the 17th.   The results will be posted on www.lindenwoods.cc, and the announcement will goes on the January/February issue of Linden Words.  Winners are also engraved on plaques to be displayed in the Community Centre.

We can’t wait to see your lights twinkle in the night.  Linden Woods has always been known for community spirit. Let’s make this year’s light competition our best ever.

Please contact Jillian at 985-6495 for any question in regards to Linden Lights.

Linden Lights 2010

The neighborhood tour of the lights was extraordinary this year! The Christmas spirit was alive and well with all of the twinkling lights and creative imaginations.

Our esteemed judges this year were TV Personality Jim Ingebrigtsen, Superintendent David Thorne of the Winnipeg Police Service, City Councillor for St. Vital, Gord Steeves along with special guests Amy and Abby who kept us all in check. We thank them all for their judging skills and we are thrilled to announce the winners:

  • Best themed street goes to Hennessy Drive (aka Polar Bear Lane). They were the winners last year as well but the judges were really impressed by the efforts the whole street put forth as most of the homes were all lit up. Candy Cane Lane was a close second and we challenge them to beat Polar Bear Lane next year!
  • Best individual home goes to 125 Shorecrest Drive. The judges were amazed by the planning and design the homeowners put into creating a magical scene for young and old alike to enjoy

Honorable mention goes to 50 Wallingford Crescent as they did a great job capturing the spirit of the season.

We could not have had as enjoyable an evening if it weren’t for our extremely generous sponsors: Boston Pizza located at 1630 Kenaston Blvd. and Dr. Les Rykiss of the Linden Market Dental Centre located at 7-877 Waverley St.

Thank you all for having fun and allowing us to share in the spirit of the season. We look forward to our 20th year next year for this event!! WOW! We challenge you all to make it the best yet and really put Linden Woods on the Christmas Light touring map!!
